Sydney: The Pretty Prince Of Parties
Well, it’s official. In the city where any gathering of 3 or more people, or anything at all happening at Darling Harbour seems to qualify as a festival, Sydney has been proclaimed the world’s best event city. Note, it is NOT the world’s best festival city, that honour belongs to Rotterdam. Who knows exactly what the distinction is…
Sure, we seem to have a festival every day of the week (twice on Sundays) which cheapens the festival-moniker, but one to genuinely get excited about is Sydney’s inaugural fringe festival. Sydney might finally have the critical mass of alternative performers, venues and fans to make this viable. Get out and support it! I was lucky enough to catch the blink-and-you’ll-miss-it run of Monica Goes To Rehab at Notes and had a ball. They’re even organising a Sydney Fringe bike tour!
Sydney Fringe Festival runs until September 26, at various venues at very reasonable prices.
