Even More Cycling Fun in Sydney in November

It seems my last post on upcoming cycling events in Sydney was published too soon. As Demtel would put it: “But wait, there’s more!”

Rapha Supercross is coming back to Sydney Park on Saturday November 1. If you’re not sure what Supercross is, first you need to understand what cyclocross is… which is what Belgians do with bikes in winter, namely, riding them around in the mud and over obstacles to the sound of cowbells and washed down with a good beer. Supercross, is the same, but add a foam cannon and fancy dress. Fun for the whole family, not just the racers. Note, this is also Gong-ride eve (donations still being accepted!) so some might want to save their legs for the Sunday.

Whatever you do that weekend, what better way to recover the next weekend than a ride to the beach for a dip in the ocean… at Newcastle… overnight? The third running of the Newcastle Overnight is scheduled for November 8. I haven’t had the joy of riding in previous years, but if it’s anything like London’s Dunwich Dynamo (which is where I truly caught the bike bug) it’ll be a great experience. Just make sure you’ve got lights to last you all night, and enough snacks and spare tubes to get you to the end.
